Week of November 1

Dear Friends,
Here are a few things coming up at Christ the Redeemer:
All Saints’ Day is this Sunday, November 1st—In the Anglican Church, it is customary to wear red (the color of blood) in honor of the Christians who have died because of their faith (martyrs).  Please wear red this Sunday in their remembrance.  Here is information about why we celebrate All Saints’ Day.
Small Group Leaders’ Meeting at the Campbell’s home this Sunday evening from 5-7 PM.  All Small Group Leaders are encouraged to attend.
Christmas Project Benefiting Park Place School—We are now collecting items to make Christmas gift bags for the students at Park Place School.  Please see the list of needed items located on the table under the “Mission” bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall and sign-up to bring an item (or two!).  We need the items by November 15 so the Sunday School classes can put together the gift bags the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  If you have any questions, contact Jennifer at brownie7506@yahoo.com.
Advent Inter-Generational Dinner—Please join us on Saturday, November 21st from 5:00-7:30 PM to kick-off the season of Advent.  This will be a potluck style dinner and there will be sign-up sheets in the Fellowship Hall starting next Sunday, November 8th.  Hope to see everyone there!
Looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.

First, the Men’s Group meets on Saturday, October 17 (8:30- 10:00 am). We are beginning our study of Scott McNight’s Jesus Creed (the first 2 chapters), but if you have not yet purchased the book (or read the chapters) come along anyways and join in on the discussion and fellowship. We meet in the Ministry Room next to the Women’s rest room.
Second, our “Exploring Membership at Christ the Redeemer’ class starts at the end of the month (Friday, October 30 7- 8:30 and Saturday, October 31, 9 am-1 pm). If you have questions about the class, or want to ‘sign up’ for it, please speak to Brian (revbriancampbell@gmail.com or 757-284-8246).
Third, our Newcomers Dinner takes place this Sunday at the Campbell’s (1019 Manchester Ave, Norfolk 23508). If you have not yet RSVP’ed to the Evite please do so soon.
Fourth, Our First (and hopefully Annual) Chili Bowl takes place a week from this Saturday (October 24). You can either join in on the fun Flag Football game at Lafayette Park (4:00 pm start), or participate in the ‘Chili Supper and Cook-Off’ at the church at 6;00 pm, or BOTH! See you all for Worship on Sunday.

Worship is on for this Sunday, October 4, 2015

Dear Friends,

Since the possible storm threat has dwindled as Hurricane Juaquin is expected to head out to sea, Christ the Redeemer will have the Sunday service at the regular scheduled time of 10:00 AM.

The service will fall mid-way between high tides, so the roads should be suitable for travel.

See you all for worship tomorrow!

Week of October 4

Dear Friends
With the hurricane potentially bearing down upon us the weekend schedule is becoming clearer.
First, the Serve the City Project set for Saturday has been postponed.  The folks organizing this project will get back to us when an alternate plan has been crafted.
Second, we will make a call on Saturday regarding our Sunday worship. Georgia will send out an email to all on our email list by Saturday afternoon and will also post it on our ‘This Week at CtR’ on our web site. Obviously, if the hurricane comes near our shore we will NOT have worship on Sunday. Please check your inbox sometime late Saturday afternoon.
Pray for wisdom for our leaders and protection for all, but especially for the most vulnerable (the homeless, the elderly, those in areas prone to flooding).
May the God of peace and grace be with us all.
