Dear Friends
Happy Ascension Day! This is the day we celebrate Jesus’ return to his Father in great triumph–a return as OUR REPRESENTATIVE, one who shares his victory and his honor with those who are bound to him in covenant. There is so much to celebrate this day.
Can I make a recommendation? If you did not get a chance to read and rejoice in the Daily Office lection for yesterday evening, make sure you read Revelation 5 today. There is only one who is worthy to ‘open the scroll and break the seals’ of God’s Story of and for Creation; only one who fulfills the Creator’s purposes for creation. And that One is the ‘Lion of Judah’, the ‘Lamb who was slain’ who has ‘ransomed a people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.’
Read this meditatively and rejoice that through ‘Faith’ and ‘Baptism’ you too have been grafted into that ‘people’.
Speaking of ‘Baptism’: we are privileged to welcome into Christ’s body six children this Sunday–Hazel and Oliver Beers, Constance Bufford, Henry Dickens, Caroline and Samantha Shellock. Please pray for these children and their families as they prepare themselves to receive the sacrament; and come prepared on Sunday to renew your own Baptismal Vows!
Can I also remind you of Jennifer’s request for help with the Vacation Bible School, and my request for prayers for our search for Georgia’s replacement as Administrative Assistant? We are all part of one body and need to play our part in the building up of all.
Can I also apologize for the rash of ‘updates’ you have received this week. We had a glitch with our server in early May and all of the Updates we thought were going out were actually being stored up. The glitch was corrected this week and the ‘backed up Updates’ were all sent! We promise to be more circumspect in the future.
Looking forward to a great day of worship on Sunday.

Dear Friends
As we continue our celebration of the New Creation inaugurated by the resurrection of Jesus, we are preparing for several important events in the life of our community;
First, we are preparing for Baptisms on Sunday, May 28th. The dates for the preparation for the baptisms have now been set (Saturday May 20 and May 27). This is the last call for those considering seeking the sacrament for themselves or their children. Please speak to Brian+ on Sunday if you are ready to act.
Second, we are preparing for our Vacation Bible School (June 26-30). Jennifer is still looking for two volunteers to head up the Mission and Games stations for the week, as well as others to lend a hand as needed. If you have promised to bring in some materials needed for the week, please remember to bring them on Sunday. Please make the VBS a part of your intercessions–the best we can do in preparing for the week!
Third, the dates (and plans) for our trip to Rwanda this summer have been set ( August 2-11). We will be able to see the School building we helped fund as well as take the monies for the next installment of the project (rooms 3 and 4!). We will also bring together agricultural experts from ECHO with the farmers of Mbyo (thanks to Rob Slaughter for arranging this). Bishop Louis is excited about this venture, and it promises to be as equally helpful for our brothers and sisters in Mbyo as the advances in education. Finally, we will have a chance to meet with our Compassion children (and those in Mbyo sponsored by others in our community). All in all, it promises to be a great trip.
What we need now is for those who have been considering being part of the trip to commit to doing so. Please speak to Rob Slaughter ASAP if you are planning on joining in on the fun.
Lastly, there are still a couple of slots left on the “Take Them a Meal” sign-up page for Anne Reed Harper, as she is recovering from knee replacement surgery.  If you would like to sign up to take a meal to her, please go to this link: takethemameal.com
Looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.

Week of May 7, 2017

Dear CtR Family,
Here are a few things going on here at Christ the Redeemer:
First, our new session of Discipleship Hour classes began last Sunday, but it is not too late to join!  If you are interested in joining our “Exploring Membership at Christ the Redeemer”  class or “The Drama of Scripture: Finding Our Place in the Biblical Story” class, please let Fr. Brian know as soon as possible. Brian@ChristtheRedeemer.org
Second, some information about Vacation Bible School, June 26-30:
  • If you have signed up to bring a donated item for VBS, please bring it this Sunday.
  • We are in need of help for the following two areas:
    1. Someone to man the Mission site
    2. Someone to man the Games site
  • Registration begins May 21st, so mark your calendar!
For more information on VBS, please contact Jennifer at brownie7506@yahoo.com.
Lastly, if you are missing anything, please check the ‘Lost and Found’ basket on top of the cabinets in the back room off the Fellowship Hall, or check with Georgia to see if anything has been turned in to the office.
I look forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.
