Luke tells us that on the day of Pentecost, after 3000 people had been baptized, that the entire community “devoted (itself) to the apostles teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). The Resurrection (and subsequent gift of the Spirit) is not simply an event in time and space, but the true beginning of a new world, of new creation. As such, it demands new and life-giving practices, ones which teach us how to live within this new world, guided by the Spirit of Christ who makes it all possible.
All of this to say that, as we begin our Easter season, let us do so by committing to ‘devote ourselves’ to those practices the Spirit uses to guide us into life: practices of discipleship and learning, practices of community and service, practices of worship and mission. God’s gift of new life within this new world demands no less!

Remember that on Sunday we have the privilege of welcoming three new members into the Body of Christ through baptism (Ethan and Samantha Inman, Elanor Scarlett), all the while renewing our own Baptismal Vows.
Finally, we also welcome into our community John David Seligman, born on Easter Day to Sydney and Justin! If you would like to show your love for the Seligman’s, you can sign up to ‘Take them a Meal’ (https://takethemameal.com/AQRA8541).
Looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.
