JOIN IN
We are designed for relationships. With God. With other people. With the world.
Despite this, we often find ourselves isolated, alone, eager to connect with others in genuine community. True life at Christ the Redeemer is the opportunity to be known and loved as you are in the community of the church.
Welcome. Come, see, and find your place.
Connect through our Life Groups, Children’s and Youth Ministry. Serve our community through our Sunday Teams and serve the Hampton Roads community through mission as we love one another and love the world too.
We want to invite you to find your place in these relationships. Find a place to connect via our life groups, events, or Kids and Student ministries.
Community
Life Groups
Imagine a place where you can grow in faith, form deep connections, and find support in a close-knit community. At Christ the Redeemer, that’s what our Life Groups are all about. God never intended for us to live in isolation. As the writer of Hebrews urges, we are called to “not give up meeting together, but to encourage one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25). Jesus himself promised, “I have come so that you may have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10). Our Life Groups bring this promise to life—small gatherings open to all, where faith comes alive in community.
These groups reflect the heart of Christ the Redeemer, where we dive into scripture, grow as disciples individually and together, and are shaped by Jesus’ teachings. Here, we follow him, build lasting friendships, and work as one to fulfill his mission of redemption and love.
Life Groups are mission-minded communities that serve both our church’s vision and the world’s greater good. Join one and discover others who will support you, share life’s journey with you, and serve alongside you as we bring the good news of Jesus to the world. If you’re longing to enrich your spiritual life and connect with others, a Life Group is waiting for you.
Our Life Groups meet throughout the week and all over Hampton Roads.

Children
At Christ the Redeemer, we love children and believe our role is to partner with parents to help disciple them in a variety of ways from Sunday morning chapels, to intergenerational Life Groups, to discipleship hour.
We love children of all ages, and they are always welcome in worship. We also offer a nursery for our youngest members and chapels for older children for those families who would like to have their kids spend time in age-appropriate worship.
Nursery: Ages Newborn-3 years.
Preschool Chapel: Ages 3-4 Elementary Chapel: Grades K-5
Child Check In is required for all Children through fifth grade. The check-in station is located in the Narthex (lobby) of the Sanctuary. Children should be checked in before the service starts and will be led to their chapels after the Gospel reading and return before Holy Communion.
Contact our Director of Children’s Ministry Jennifer Brown to learn more and get involved.
Youth Ministry
We love our youth and want them to fully find their home in the life of the church. From youth group on Sunday nights, to Middle School Chapel, to using their gifts, talents, and passions in ministry, you’ll find that their place is everywhere at Christ the Redeemer.
Our students serve in a wide variety of ministries: the worship band, reading scripture, Acolytes, Tech Ministry and everything in between.
These are all ways that encourage and enable our youth to build relationships with other members and prevent them from disappearing into a sub-culture. Our hope is that the relationships they establish will help them connect with and transition into the life of the church even after high school.
So, with any of our Servant Evangelism Projects or other church wide events, we value and encourage the presence and help of the youth.
Our Student Ministry highlights:
Youth Group: Sundays at 6. A gathering place for Sixth to Twelfth Graders to find community, grow in faith, and have fun. Contact david@christtheredeemer.org
Camp BooYah is our fantastic Diocesan Summer Camp and Weekend Retreat https://campbooyah.com/
Middle School Chapel meets during the sermon portion of our worship service. During this time, Christ the Redeemer Youth will do what happens in the service but on a Middle Schooler’s level: reading and interactive discussion on scripture, prayer, and Creed declaration.
Find your place. Contact The Rev. David Watts or Rachel Inman to get involved in our Youth ministries.
At Christ the Redeemer, we value serving one another, our community and the world. Jesus makes servanthood a foundation to the new community of the church. He came as one who serves and we, as his disciples, are to go and do likewise.
Week by week, our community volunteers to enable ministry, love our neighbors and serve the world. At Christ the Redeemer, we are here to help you serve. In the church to build up the Body of Christ. At home as you disciple your primary community whether that is other sailors, your friends or your families.
On Sunday, our ministries are all about practicing hospitality, enabling worship and encouraging each other to grow in the Lord.

We have both official and unofficial ministry partners in our local community. Our church encourages individuals and Community Groups to fulfill Jesus’s Kingdom Mission in their neighborhoods. Some of our local mission partnerships include:
Beja People
Luke and Abby are serving The Beja People who are an unreached people group in North Africa
The Kramers equip evangelism in multiple locations in the Middle East and East Africa through Love for the Least.
