The Basics for Babies and Toddlers

The Basics Update. May 23rd, 2019

The five-week pilot program was a fun, friendship-building program where a small community of parents came together to learn strategies for helping their child thrive. During the five weeks, thirteen babies and toddlers and their parents were able to participate in the program, and 100% said they would recommend it to someone else. Here is a comment from one of the parents:

I loved everyone’s involvement, insight and hospitality. The classes were very informative and helpful for me. It allowed me to look at things differently such as using items around the house to teach/play with my explorer scientist child.

As a result of The Basics, the following two items have resulted:

  • Donations Closet which will be located in the Ministry Room. You will be able to drop off any gently used items, and/or pick up items that may be of use to you. Currently, there are mostly items for children and parents (remaining from The Basics).
  • The Basics Session Two. The participants were interested in having another five-week session and/or inviting friends to another session. We will plan to launch the next one in September after Labor Day. Stay tuned!

The Basics for Babies and Toddlers

April 23rd through May 21st, 2019

Tuesdays, 11:30am – 1:00pm

The Basics were created by Boston Basics Campaign, with children ages 0 to 3 in mind. With our ever-growing number of babies and toddlers at Christ the Redeemer, we thought this would be a great program to try out with our caregivers, and extend to the surrounding community! Read below for more details:

“The Boston Basics Campaign is inspired by the fact that 80% of brain growth happens in the first three years of life…The Basics are five evidence-based parenting and caregiving principles that encompass much of what experts find is important for children from birth to age three. Every child from every background can benefit from routinely experiencing the Basics learning experiences. Therefore, the Boston Basics Campaign is working through a broad range of institutions to ensure that every parent and caregiver is fully supported by family and friends to use the Basics practices in everyday life.” – https://boston.thebasics.org/en/about/
