Week of August 14

Dear Friends,
Janis and I had a great, restful vacation, but now are glad to be back and eager to see what God has in store for all of us this fall.
Here are some of the things you need to know this week:
The Leadership Council meets tonight for its regular meeting. Can I ask that you take some time today to pray for our gathering, and specifically for our continuing (and hopefully deepening) relationship with Knox?
Intercessory Prayer: For the last number of years a small group has met on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to noon to pray for the needs of the church. I am convinced that all that we do in and around Christ the Redeemer needs to be undergirded by prayer. If you have a heart to pray and the time on Wednesdays, please join with us in this important work.
Bill Harper’s Funeral takes place on Saturday, August 13th beginning at 11:00 a.m. here at the church. Please remember to hold up the Harper family as they mourn the loss of the ‘patriarch’ of the clan. Please join us in celebrating Bill’s life on Saturday.
Finally, on Sunday afternoon (August 14) there will be a special gathering at Park Place Methodist Church (35th and Colonial), “Hope Talks: A Church-led Community Discussion on Racial Unity and Injustice”. The event begins at 5:00 and will end by 6:30 pm. I commend this gathering to you, and ask that if you cannot be present that you be in prayer for those who are. May God be honored in all we say and do.
Looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.
Peace be with us all.
