As we approach the Advent Season, here are some things to plan for:
Our annual Advent Gathering for all ages will take place this Saturday, December 1st at 5:30 p.m. We will begin with evening prayer, then share a covered dish meal and work on Advent resources. Then, each Saturday at 5:30 p.m. during Advent (December 8th, 15th and 22nd) we will gather for evening prayer and stay to share an optional covered dish meal.
CtR has the honor of hosting the monthly prayer gathering for international students this coming Saturday, December 1st from 8:30-10am. These are great opportunities to seek the Lord’s favor for our ministry, connect with others who are serve international students, and be encouraged by testimonies of the Lord’s work amongst internationals.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held immediately following worship next Sunday, December 9th. We will share a covered dish lunch, celebrate and remember all that God has done in 2018, then plan and prepare for 2019. Leadership Council elections will take place at this meeting. Sarah Beers and David Condron have been nominated for the Council. Further nominations may be made in writing to either Bob Atwood or Bill Richter. This meeting is open to all and all are urged to attend.
If you are interested in dedicating poinsettias in honor or memory of loved ones, please fill out an envelope from the table outside the Sanctuary and return it in the offering plate, with your donation, before December 16th.
Park Place School Happenings:
Christmas Tree Ornaments are available on the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall. Each ornament will have three reasonably priced items to purchase for a Park Place School student which we will gift to them, a small way to show our love through gifts as God loved us through the gift of Christ incarnate. Please pick out an ornament and return it with the gifts by December 16th.
Park Place School has cordially invited all of CtR to join them for their Christmas Chapel at New Life Church in Ghent, 1420 Colonial Ave, Norfolk, VA 23517, Friday December 21st, at 8:30am.
Women’s Happenings:
All women of CtR are invited to a Women’s Christmas Party,Tuesday, December 11th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Bring 3 or 4 dozen of your favorite cookies to exchange and a (less than $5.00) gift to exchange.
Next Thursday, December 6th, will be the last Thursday Morning Women’s Study until the new year.
