As we move from our celebration of the Christmas Season into Epiphany (that part of ‘Ordinary Time’ that precedes Lent) we do so with great anticipation: Having recognized once again the One who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords we now seek to live our lives within his Kingdom for the glory of his name!
Here are some of the things you need to know this week:
First, we rejoice with Okechukwu and Elan Ihenacho at the birth of their son Marcus-Alexander Chibuzo Ihenacho. Marcus-Alexander was born on Sunday, January 3. We welcome this gift of God into our community.
Second, we also gather around Bruce and Ann Harper as they mourn the death of Bruce’s mother, Kathleen Harper. A Memorial Service celebrating Kathleen’s life will take place on Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 am at Christ the Redeemer. All are welcome and encouraged to join in on the remembrance and celebration.
Third, we look forward to Sunday and the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus. We not only have the chance to renew our own baptismal vows but welcome into sacramental covenant with us, Jasper and Miloh Embry. (We will also receive Sharon and Ryan Reyes and Charles Kello into covenanted membership–They were unable to be present last December when we officially and liturgically welcomed our new members).
Fourth, we have been asked to pray for the Primates of the Anglican Communion as they gather in Lambeth next week seeking God’s direction for the future of our church! (See the web site for GAFCON for more information on this:www.gafcon.org). This is a crucial time in the life of the Church universal and we seek the grace and the direction of the Lord of the Church in all things.
Looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.
