Week of November 8

Dear Friends,
Here are a few things going on at Christ the Redeemer this week:
Saturday Men’s Group will meet at Panera on 21st Street in Norfolk this Saturday, November 7th because Brian is out of town.
Christmas Project Benefiting Park Place School:  We are now collecting items to make Christmas gift bags for the students at Park Place School.  If you feel it in your heart to donate or help out, please see the list of needed items located on the table under the “Mission” bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall and sign-up to bring an item (or a few!).  We need the items by November 15 so the Sunday School classes can put together the gift bags the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  If you have any questions, contact Jennifer at brownie7506@yahoo.com.
There will be an “Ugly Christmas Sweater” competition at the upcoming Advent Dinner/Potluck on November 21st and we are in need of old ornaments and tinsel, so if you are cleaning out your Christmas decorations to make room for some new, please donate the old so we can see who can make the best ugliest sweater!
God’s peace be with you all.

See you all for Worship on Sunday.

Worship is on for this Sunday, October 4, 2015

Dear Friends,

Since the possible storm threat has dwindled as Hurricane Juaquin is expected to head out to sea, Christ the Redeemer will have the Sunday service at the regular scheduled time of 10:00 AM.

The service will fall mid-way between high tides, so the roads should be suitable for travel.

See you all for worship tomorrow!

Week of October 4

Dear Friends
With the hurricane potentially bearing down upon us the weekend schedule is becoming clearer.
First, the Serve the City Project set for Saturday has been postponed.  The folks organizing this project will get back to us when an alternate plan has been crafted.
Second, we will make a call on Saturday regarding our Sunday worship. Georgia will send out an email to all on our email list by Saturday afternoon and will also post it on our ‘This Week at CtR’ on our web site. Obviously, if the hurricane comes near our shore we will NOT have worship on Sunday. Please check your inbox sometime late Saturday afternoon.
Pray for wisdom for our leaders and protection for all, but especially for the most vulnerable (the homeless, the elderly, those in areas prone to flooding).
May the God of peace and grace be with us all.

Week of September 27–Our 10th Anniversary

Dear Friends
Our Tenth Anniversary Weekend is fast approaching. Here are some of the ways you can help out:
First, we need some water pitchers and/or carafes suitable for the tables (13 in all!). If you have one or two of these and can drop them off at the church this week or bring them with you to the dinner (arriving early enough to get them filled and on the tables!), or if needed, we can pick them up, please let Georgia (ctrsec@gmail.com) or Janis know (janiscampbell58@gmail.com).
Second, we are producing a ‘Time Line’ of our history and would love to have you bring any pictures or mementos you have that you would like to share (baptisms, VBS’s, International Student memories, Small group memories, etc).
Third, remember to sign-up on Perfect Pot Luck and tell us what side dish you will be able to bring.  Here is the link: http://www.perfectpotluck.com/meals.php?t=BUNQ1058    If you have trouble with accessing the link, you can go to www.perfectpotluck.com  login: Christ the Redeemer  password: dinner
Fourth, please do your best to be on time (6:30 pm to start!). We have a lovely and full evening planned and want to honor our ending time of 8:30 pm (for those with young children attending!).
Fifth, while I’m at this, let me urge us all to be ‘early’ for worship on Sunday. We will start on time with a Procession with Bishop Quigg. Pray for those being confirmed or received on Sunday.
Finally, take some time this week to remember and give thanks for all that God has done in us and through us over the past years. Take some time to pray for our future as well, that God would be gracious and continue to lead us and to shape us in the coming years.
Peace be with us all.

Week of September 20

Serve the City—October 3rd:  We will be participating with other local churches in serving the neighborhood of Park Place with the love of Jesus. The organizers need to know ‘who’ is planning on helping out, and ‘what’ they might be able to help with (in order to establish appropriate projects within the neighborhood). You can pick up a registration brochure at church this Sunday. Deadline for registration is Sunday September 20.
Looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.
